| UPM Won't Start |
| The most frequent reason for the UPM not starting is that the front panel ON switch is not depressed for a long enough period of time. The ON switch must be depressed and held for 3 seconds or longer in order for the UPM to turn on. |
|
| |
| Unit shuts down a few seconds after start-up |
| The unit is failing its initializing self-diagnostic test. In most cases this is an indication the batteries need to be replaced. If the batteries had been recently replaced - and this occurs - call Powervar Service. |

| Troubleshooting an uninterruptible power supply |
See the attached troubleshooting guide to help diagnose common UPM questions.

|
| |
| Red light on the rear panel |
| The light indicates a problem with the receptacle that the unit is plugged in to. Usually this indicates an improper gound, or the white and black wires on the receptacle are reversed. |
|
| |
| Taped switch on the rear panel |
The switch is to cold start the unit. This means if there is no AC source present, this switch must be in the enable position for this unit to be turned on.
For most applications, if the unit is plugged in to an AC source, it does not make any difference what position the switch is in.
It is taped in the OFF position to avoid the unit being turned on during shipment. |
|
| |
| Cable (wires) hanging on the back of the unit |
| The cables are the DC jumpers or battery plugs. These jumper cables are our means of disconnecting the batteries for shipping. The cables must be installed before the AC power cord is plugged in for proper operation of the unit. |
|
| |
| Replacing batteries |
You can replace the batteries in this unit rather than sending the unit in for battery replacement. The unit is designed to be user-friendly. In fact, the batteries are hot-swappable which means the unit need not be turned off during the battery replacement process.
Credit card only orders may be placed using Powervar 's website order form by clicking here. Match your model to the UPM model section in the form to identify which battery replacment kit you require.
